Call for Production Roles

Miracle on 34th Street by Caleb Marshall & Erin Keating

SHOW DATES & REHEARSALS
With show week being November 22 - 29 and show dates,
November 26 & 27 Evening shows
November 28 & 29 Matinee Shows 
Rehearsals will be held Wednesdays 7-9pm and Sundays 1-5pm.

Please submit your Expression of Interest by May 6, 2026 for the following positions:

Producer

  • Collaborate with the director to bring the director's vision of the play to fruition.

  • Coordinates and is responsible for all aspects of production, both technical and artistic

  • Organize set up and tear down

  • Organizes, prioritizes and manages finances, personnel, and scheduling

  • Keeps up to date on all developments from inception to final wrap-up of the project

  • Creates a master production schedule and timeline

  • Sets up an accounting system for the production in consultation with the treasurer

  • Creates a budget for the project with a break-down for each department and presents to executive

  • Books and chairs all production meetings (usually every 2 weeks)

  • Creates the financial report showing the original budget and the project actual expenditures in consultation with treasurer

  • Submits wrap up report to the executive

  • Works within a budget

Stage Manager

  • Collaborate with the director to bring the director's vision of the play to fruition.

  • Prepare and maintain the prompt book (script + cues, blocking, notes)

  • Document blocking, choreography spacing, and director’s notes

  • Track attendance

  • May oversee a rehearsal in director’s absence.

  • Works closely with actors, makeup and hair during show week.

  • During Performance:

    • Calls the show by cueing actors

    • Manage backstage operations and traffic

    • Ensure performers are in place and on time

    • Handle unexpected issues calmly (missed cues, technical problems, injuries)

    • Enforce safety protocols and stop the show if required

    • Responsible for maintaining the director’s vision throughout the run

    • All production personnel and actors report to the stage manager

Set Designer

  • Collaborate with the director on establishing a set design to bring the director's vision of the play to fruition.

  • Creates a Maquette (a scale model) to communicate the final “look” of the set

  • Creates a set of accurate drawings for the builders

  • Creates drawings for props/furnishings coordinator

  • Attends first production meeting and presents design concept

  • Works with set construction team

  • Works within a budget

Set Decorator

  • Require one person to oversee set painting and set decoration. This person could be part of the main production team.

  • Collaborate with the director on establishing colour palettes and tone of decoration to bring the director's vision of the play to fruition.

  • Set timelines for completion of painting and set decoration

  • Source set design pieces from thrift shops, cast/production crew, etc..

  • Assist with setup and teardown

  • Help return borrowed items.

Set Construction

  • Interprets the set designer’s drawing into the reality of a set

  • Builds scenic elements

  • Manages and direct the building crew

  • Attends set-up and tear town

  • Makes touch ups and repairs to set during show week

  • Works within a budget

Props Manager

  • Collaborates with set decoration and stage manager

  • Builds, borrows, rents props or furnishings based on prop list provided by stage manager

  • Attend production meetings

  • Supplies rehearsal props and/or furnishings

  • Attends a table read and ongoing rehearsals to better understand prop needs.

  • Organizes props backstage and ensures stage manager knows how all props work

  • Attends load-in and set-up, dress rehearsals, etc.

  • Arranges to replenish or repair props and/or furnishings during the run

Costume Designer

  • Source costumes for 2 time periods for all actors

  • Need to source/design period accurate costumes for 1800s London

  • Take measurements of all cast members and collects a list of needed costumes.

  • Sews costumes if necessary (or works with someone who sews)

  • Attend production meetings

  • Supply rehearsal costumes

  • Attends costume parade, dress rehearsals, etc.

  • Coordinates dressers for costume changes

  • Arranges to repair and clean costumes during the run

  • Supervises returns of any borrowed costumes or accessories

  • Works within a budget

Sound Designer

  • Collaborates with director on establishing a sound to bring the dorector's vision of the play to fruition.

  • Works with Stage manager to create a sound plot (speaker location, etc.).

  • Creates the sound effects on computer

  • Attends rehearsals later in rehearsal schedule when sound cues are being used and created cue sheet

  • Coordinates rental of additional sound equipment

  • Attends load-in, sound system set-up, level set and dress rehearsals.

  • Is available to run the sound board during performances or train an operator to do so.

Lighting Designer

  • Collaborates with Director on establishing a lighting design to bring the dorector's vision of the play to fruition.

  • Creates a lighting plot, ground and elevation plan

  • Creates cue sheets

  • May attend production meetings

  • Coordinates rental of additional lighting equipment in conjunction with Producers

  • Attends load-in, lighting hang, lighting focus, level set, dress rehearsals, etc.

  • Is available to run the lighting board during performances or train an operator to do so.

  • Takes responsibility for lighting at tear down.

  • Works within a budget

Makeup and Hair

  • Collaborates with Director/Costumer Designer on establishing a make-up/hair design to bring the dorector's vision of the play to fruition.

  • Could create colour sketches or photos with ideas for make-up/hair that communicates the final “look” of characters

  • Buys make-up/hair products in conjunction with producer

  • Attend rehearsal to meet actors and understand character’s make-up and hair needs.

  • Attends tech, dress rehearsals, and performances (or coordinates make-up artists for

    performances in conjunction with producers

  • Arranges to replenish make-up/hair supplies in conjunction with producers

  • Disinfects make-up after each show and before packing away (can use spray alcohol)

  • Works within a budget

House Manager

  • House manager is in charge of the audience and the house

  • Arrange for and provide a list/schedule of ushers and their duties

  • Purchase/arrange for food and beverages for audience concessions

  • Make and clean up concession stand for each performance

Publicity/Marketing

  • Works with a Publicity/Marketing team

  • Plans and implements a publicity strategy that incites interest and excitement in the public through posters, promotional flyers, advertisements, social media, press, etc.

  • Liaises with the media through press releases

  • Arranges interviews

  • Sets up photo shoots

  • Prepares press releases

  • Posts on social media including community calendars, Facebook, web site, etc.

  • Works with the producer regarding the presentation of publicity materials

  • Works within a budget

  • Works with photographer and stage manager to obtain photos
